ABSTRACT
Objective: To evaluate distress between patients suffering from diabetes mellitus type 2, according to occurrence of symptoms.
Methods and materials:
81 patients (41 female and 40 males) suffering from second type diabetes mellitus participated into research. Patients filled two types of surveys: Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI) and Diabetes Distress Scale (DDS).
Results: 17 (21%) patient had depression symptoms and mean age between these was: 60,4±11,5. Patients with second type diabetes mellitus significantly differently suffered from emotional difficulties, and intrapersonal diabetes associated distress comparing with those who had not symptoms of depression (p<0.05).
Conclusions: Emotional charges and increased interpersonal distress associated to diabetes mellitus for patients suffering from diabetes mellitus type 2 may be related to depression occurrence. Distress associated with doctor and regime of treatment may not be related to incidence of depression.
