Diagnosis and management of shock in emergency department: literature analysis

Abstract

 Shock is acute circulatory failure, leading to inadequate oxygenation of tissues. Shock is a life-threatening state because it can cause end-organ dysfunction. It is essential to determine the reason of this acute syndrome and treat it as soon as possible. Medical workers in Emergency departments are the ones that face shock state in patients the most, so it is very important for them to know how to act in the field of diagnosing and treating it. Aim: to analyze and present expert recommendations for the main causes, diagnostic and treatment procedures for patients in shock. Method: literature analysis was conducted using “PubMed’’and “UpToDate” databases to search and select publications about the main causes, diagnosing and treating shock.  Conclusions.  After analyzing the literature, there is stated the main reasons, diagnostic procedures and treatment for shock patients in Emergency department.
