ABSTRACT
Acute otitis media (AOM) is a very common inflammatory disease. Usual AEO affects infants and small children. There is no diagnostic golden standard for this disease: symptoms and otoscopic findings are not specific features. Mostly AEO is treated with antibiotics, therefore it is very important to diagnose and treat AEO accurately in order to elude antimicrobics agents overuse and its consequences. In this article diagnostics and treatment of AEO are analysed, refering to four different countries guidelines: Lithuania, USA, Canada and Japan.
