A case report of ectopic gastric mucosa in the gallbladder. Literature review

ABSTRACT

An ectopic gastric mucosa can be found in the entire gastrointestinal tract. It can also be localized in the gallbladder although it is often asymptomatic and most often an incidental finding. In this case study we report an ectopic gastric mucosa in the gallbladder in 30 years old woman who was reffered to Vilnius City Clinical Hospital Department of Abdominal Surgery with a history of intermittent abdominal pain in right upper quadrant for at least 1 year. A laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed and histopathological examination revealed ectopic gastric mucosa in the gallbladder.
